This grower-focused field day will highlight the diversity of fresh market crops grown at Bures Berry Patch, including strawberries, fall raspberries, asparagus, green beans, sugar snap peas, potatoes, pumpkins, and other seasonal produce. The Bures family’s pumpkin crop is also an important part of their fall agritourism experience, giving attendees a chance to consider how production, direct marketing, and on-farm customer experiences can work together.
Field day discussions will include:
- Strawberry renovation practices on approximately 3 acres of recently renovated strawberries
- Discussion on wider-row management of the cultivar Jewel versus the narrowing vigorous Honeoye plantings to improve field management
- Fall raspberry production on mulch, including one golden and two red cultivars that may be starting to show color
- Use of overhead and drip irrigation systems on different crops
- Equipment used across multiple berry, vegetable, and agritourism enterprises
- Shared grower experiences, practical questions, and lessons learned from diversified fresh market production.
Bures Berry Patch was established by Ed and Kathy Bures in 2001 to provide locally grown, fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables in a family farm environment.
This event is designed as a shared learning opportunity for experienced growers, beginning farmers, farm employees, and anyone interested in Wisconsin berry and fresh market vegetable production. Newcomers to the industry are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Parking will be available on the farm. Please watch for signage as you enter the farmstead. We hope you will join us for a day of field-based learning, grower discussion, and networking at Bures Berry Patch.Email info@wiberriesandveggies.com for more information if interested.
